Metal Fiber Felt Filters

Sintered Metal Fiber Felt for Deep Filtration

Sintered metal fiber felt is a non-woven porous metal filtration media made from fine metal fibers. During production, the fibers are evenly laid, laminated and sintered at high temperature. The contact points between fibers are metallurgically bonded to form a stable three-dimensional porous network.

Unlike conventional woven wire mesh, metal fiber felt provides interconnected pores throughout the thickness of the media. This makes it suitable for both surface filtration and depth filtration, particularly where high porosity, high dirt-holding capacity and low pressure drop are required.

The material can also be combined with woven wire mesh, perforated metal plates or other support structures to produce reinforced filter media and finished filter elements.

The media can be supplied as flat sheets or further processed into finished filtration components.

These properties make titanium sintered felt suitable for gas diffusion layers, hydrogen-related electrochemical systems and specialized industrial filtration.

Titanium Sintered Felt for Hydrogen Production

Titanium sintered felt is a porous metal material suitable for selected hydrogen-energy and electrochemical applications.

Its interconnected pore structure can provide pathways for gas transport, liquid drainage and electronic conduction, while also providing mechanical support for the electrode structure.

For gas diffusion layer applications, porosity and pore structure are important because the diffusion layer needs to support both gas transport and water management.

Actual material selection, pore structure and surface treatment should be evaluated according to the specific electrochemical system.

Gas Diffusion Layer Functions

Titanium sintered felt can serve as a porous structural material in gas diffusion layer applications.

Gas Transport

The interconnected pores provide pathways for gas movement between the bipolar plate and catalyst layer.

Water Management

The porous structure can facilitate the transport and removal of water generated during electrochemical reactions, helping reduce excessive water accumulation.

Electrical Conductivity

Titanium provides electrical conductivity, while the interconnected metal fiber structure provides conductive pathways through the porous media.

Mechanical Support

The gas diffusion layer also provides mechanical support to the membrane electrode assembly and helps maintain structural stability.

The appropriate thickness, porosity, pore structure and surface treatment should be selected according to the specific system.
